Paying homage to Marine Corps tradition, the "Blood Stripe" is the scarlet stripe sewn on the trousers of Officers, Staff Noncommissioned Officers, and Noncommissioned Officers. The stripe originally was added to commemorate the Marines that were killed during the battle of Chapultepec in 1847. Today, the stripe honors all fallen Marines, and so does this mug!
